| Benjarong
- Thai restaurant at T.T.K Rd, Alwarpet. |
| Though
the familiar ambience of the restaurant feels stale & boring, the
spice & aroma of Thai food stirs your soul. The food is still very
good & the staff very courteous. The space however definitely
needs a makeover. |
| Food:
Very good, Service: Very Good, Ambience: Stale! |

| KEFI
- The rooftop Mediterranean restaurant at the Taj Club House, Mount
road. |
| The
restaurant serves cuisine from Greece, Turkey, Spain, Morocco and Lebanon.
Somehow I find the place more interesting than the food itself. The open
dining area is adjoining the pool. A great place to share a good bottle of
wine with some good friends after a long day. A word of caution though,
the place can get really windy, So ladies if you don't want want your hair
messed up, suggest you move to the enclosed area. |

ID
- Traditional south Indian restaurant @ Sathyam Cineplex
|
| Although
this restaurant is more for patrons visiting Sathyam Cinema, we felt it
deserved a mention in our page. The restaurant serves traditional south
Indian food but not in a typical ambience ambience like Sangeetha's or
Saravana's. The ambience is modern almost like a fine dining
restaurant. The food is very good, the service quick and courteous. Definitely
worth a visit the next time you go for a movie at Sathyam Cineplex |
| Food: Very good,
Ambience: Good, Service: Very good |

Pasta
Bar Veneto, T.Nagar
|
| This
is the second in the chain of pasta bars promoted by Fifth Avenue
Hospitality. This brand new outlet has confirmed Pasta bar Veneto as
serious player in the food business. The larger restaurant is
certainly impressive, the interiors are certainly more Tuscan than any
other Italian restaurant in the city. There is also an open to sky area of
those who enjoy smoking hookah's...hookah's? now this sounds more Mediterranean
isn't it?. Well the food still remains truly Italian, the thin crust
pizza's and pasta's are quite good, definitely a place I would visit again
with friends. While the service of staff is good, the orders take a
long time to arrive. So if you are in a hurry this is not the place to go
to. |
| Food: Very
good, Service: Good, Over all dining experience: Good |

Above
Sea Level - Rain Tree Hotel
|
| The
rooftop restaurant at this Eco hotel is easily one of the best rooftop
restaurant in the city. The Eco friendly touch extends all the way to the
rooftop, the restaurant is spacious, breezy and offers a good view
of the city. The restaurant offers a good list of cocktails and other
alcoholic beverages to start the night with. The food menu is not
exhaustive but good enough to offer a variety. The service is very
courteous and prompt. |
Food:
Very good, Service: Very good, Over all dining experience : Very good |

| |
| Mainland
China - Chinese restaurant at Quality Inn Aruna Complex, Sterling rd. |
| Good
Chinese food with Indian service...the service is really slow at times especially
during the weekends. Food still tastes good but would put it a notch down
than before. However the buffet lunch is quite popular. They serve alcohol
but unfortunately do not stock wine which is quite disappointing. Be sure
to make reservations during the weekend. |
Food: Very good, Service: Slooow, Over all dining
experience: Good |
|

Cascade
- Chinese restaurant @ Khader Nawaz Khan Road
|
| Cascade
continues to be popular with Chennai's elite, Loyal patrons who visit time
& again to enjoy the great food & good service. The new restaurant
at KNK road is more spacious and the ambience does not
disappoint. |
Food: Great ,
Service : Good, Over all dining experience: Very Good |

Hip
Asia - Pan Asian restaurant at Vivanta by Taj Connemara
|
| Hip
Asia serves selective dishes from countries across the Asian region such
as Japan, Malaysia, Thailand & Vietnam. The restaurant offers an
authentic experience of the tastes of Asia. Hip Asia also has a Teppanyaki
counter manned by expert chefs serving mouth watering dishes. Though the ambience
is relaxed, its more formal where business people can unwind after a hard
day with their associates. The restaurant also has some good wine on their
wine list. |
Food: Very good, Service: Excellent, Over all dining experience : Very
good |
|
| |
| Veneto
Pasta Bar - at Alsa Mall, Montieth Road. |
| A
good Italian restaurant which serves good pastas, pizza's & juices but
without ripping your pocket. Though the restaurant is small, its quite
comfortable and has a relaxed feel. |
| Food:
Good, Service: Good. |
|
Copper
Point at Hotel GRT Grand Days |
| The
restaurant serves traditional dishes of north & south India. We
however recommend the South Indian dishes to relish. Their appams
are almost perfect and served with some great curries. The restaurant is
definitely one of the best for South Indian cuisine. |
Food: Excellent, Service: Very good, Over all experience: Very good. |
|
| |
| Absolute,
Pod Hotel - Cuisine: Californian, Asian fusion ( Khader Nawaz Khan
road ) |
| The
styling of the restaurant truly has a international feel. Minimalist
design with large scenic windows and glass roof almost makes it feel
like you are sitting on a outdoor deck. The place has a relaxed feel and
everybody seems less hurried, unfortunately that included the service. The
food is more suited to the western palette, tasty nevertheless and they do
have a good list of cocktails & some good wines. If you are looking to
have a quiet evening with long conversations then this would be a good
choice, unfortunately the restaurant is pricey as in the five star
category. |
Food:
Good, Service: Reasonable , Over all experience: Good |

The
Golden Dragon
- Chinese cuisine ( Taj Coramandel, Nungambakkam ) |
| Golden
Dragon at the Taj continues to be one of the finest restaurant for Chinese
cuisine in the city. The service was slack the last time around though,
unexpected from Taj Hotels which usually offers great dining experience in
most of its restaurants. First, we were made to wait for our tables in spite
of reservation, when we turned up in person we found that more than enough
tables were empty. Second, our table seemed invisible right in the middle
of the restaurant. I was also disappointed with the Italian wine
recommended. To make it all up the food was wonderful, no complaints
there. |
Food:
Very good, Service: surprisingly everyone seemed lost, Ambience: No
complaints.. its the Taj! Overall dining experience: Good, but
could be excellent if they step it up a notch!. |
|
The
Dhaba
- Punjabi food (Radhakrishnan salai) |
| Dhaba
still serves great Punjabi food, good kebabs
& roti's. Let down at times are the curry's especially the ghost
roganjosh. The service at the restaurant is good and they still serve cold beer in steel
tumblers. |
Food:
Good, Service: Good, Overall dining experience: Good. |
|
Tuscana
Pizzeria
( Italian restaurant ) |
| Great
place for pizza's and pasta's, Some excellent Italian recipes from 'chef
Wili Wilson' who is also the COO will want you coming back for more
to Tuscana. The name Tuscana also refers to Tuscany or Tuscan region in
Italy. Over all the ambience of the place is quite comfortable. The the
pricing though is on the higher side, but when you are located on
up-market wallace garden road and dishing out excellent international
receipes its justified :). Tuscana is open till 2 am on Friday & Saturday
nights and that should make it popular with late night party people. |
| Food:
Very good, Ambience: Good, Service: Very Good, Overall dining experience: Good |

Garden
Cafe at GRT Radisson - Global cuisine |
| The
multi-cuisine lunch buffet is something not to be missed at the Garden
cafe. The spread is quite wide and enticing. There is counter for chat and
tava items too. For the diet conscious jet setting traveler there
is an exclusive section of sugar free desserts. The all day
restaurant also serves a multi-cuisine breakfast buffet. You can also
choose from the a la carte menu for lunch or dinner but I recommend the
lunch buffet. The experience does not end with lunch, don't be surprised
if you get a caricatured picture of yourself done by a young artist. |
Food:
Very good, Ambience: Good, Service: Very Good, Overall dining experience:
Very Good |
|
| |
| Anytime
- GRT Grand (T.Nagar) - Multi-cuisine
restaurant |
| 'Anytime'
as the name goes is the 24 hour coffee shop at the GRT Grand. |
| This
is the one of the best casual multi-cuisine restaurants if you are looking to get
a quick meal at anytime of the day or to catch up with your friends for
coffee & snacks. The place also serves a decent buffet lunch with a
good spread. |
Food: Good, Service:
Good, Ambience: is Average. Overall dining experience: Good! |
|
| 601
(The Park, N.H.Road) - Multi-cuisine restaurant |
| 601
at The Park Hotel is one of the best round the clock restaurants in
Chennai. The ambience is nice, simple and spacious. There is a pasta bar
which serves a great variety of Italian pasta dishes. There is also wide
range to choose from Indian to International dishes in the 601 menu. The
restaurant also serves excellent pizza's. There is a wine room within
601 for a more private dining experience. The downside is slow service at
times even when the restaurant has few customers. |
Food:
is very good, Service: Could be better, Ambience: is good!. Overall dining
experience: Very good! |
|
| Moonraker
(Mahabalipuram, town) - Multi-cuisine, Sea food restaurant |
| This
is probably one of the best non-veg restaurants if you are not looking at
the 'star' hotels in Mahabalipuram town. Nothing great about the
place if you look at the interiors or the location but if you love sea
food this is the place to be. The service is good and fast. The restaurant
is quite popular with many in the city and foreign tourists. By the way
they also serve liquor which is a strong selling point to customers who
just want to chill. So next time you are down ECR try the
restaurant. |
Food:
is good!, Service: Fast!. |
|
| Kabul
- (on TTK Road, Alwarpet) - Tandoori, Peshwari food |
| The
once upon a time popular restaurant in the city is still doing great
business. The interior is more brighter and pleasant against the dark know
not what thou eat lighting of cave man days. The food is still good
especially the if you like Indian breads. They also serve beer a rarity
among Chennai stand alone restaurants. |
Food:
is still good, Service: as always, Ambience: Improved, Overall dining
experience: Hey they serve beer! |
|

Kebab
factory @ The Radisson GRT.
- Kebabs |
| This
is a must experience restaurant in the city. If you are a kebab lover you
definitely will love the 'Kebab factory'. The food is great and the entire
experience will keep you coming back for more. Though the hotel is far
from the city on the GST road close to the airport, its worth the
distance. Please make reservations before you make the trip all the way. A
set menu is served to you. It consists of a welcome drink followed
by salad, 5-6 varieties of kebab Biriyani or Indian breads and final
course of 4-5 types Indian desserts. |
Food:
Awesome!, Service: Very Good!, Ambience: ok!, Overall dining experience: Very
good!. |
|
| |
| 'Lemon
Grass', - Chinese restaurant at Hotel Rain Tree |
| A
little disappointing ......The restaurant is authentic as any Indian Chinese
restaurant but the food is good & spicy should appeal to the Indian taste
buds. When we ordered for the dumpling.. our waiter's response was that it
would take 25 mins as if he was discouraging us from ordering the dish.
Finally it did arrive after nearly an hour just as we finished our main
course. So we had it more like a dessert rather than a starter. The
number of patrons the entire time we were there was not more than 6
including us(3). Ok! it was a weekday, a Thursday lunch hour. Hey how many
people go out for lunch on a thursday??..hmm!. So pls don't order for a
dumpling unless you want it as a dessert. |
Food:
is good!, Service: ok! i guess, Ambience: good!, Overall dining
experience: hmm!...decent! |

'Rainbow' at Hotel Rain
Tree (24/7 Multi-Cuisine Restaurant)
 |
| The Hotel itself
deserves a special mention as it is the only eco-hotel in the city. The
staff at the hotel right are very courteous. The ambience is modern and
the entire dining experience
at the 'Rainbow' was very pleasant & relaxed.. The Buffet had an
excellent spread for both Non-vegetarians & vegetarians. |
Service:
Very good!, Food: Good!, Ambience: ok !, Overall Dining Experience:
Good!. |

Prego
- Italian fine dining restaurant (Taj
Coramandel) |
| The
restaurant is undoubtedly the finest Italian restaurant in the City. The
wine list is excellent with an accent on Italian wines. The restaurant is
serious experience in the art of fine dining. Don't go there if you
are looking for pizza's. Interiors are only let down in the evenings as it
is brightly lit and tables too big for a romantic evening. If you make a
reservation ask for seating near the pool side, there is an extended
dining area overlooking the picturesque pool. |
Service:
The Best!, Food: Excellent!, Ambience: Good (but ask for the pool side),
Wine list: Excellent!, Overall Dining Experience: Great! |
