The Golden Dragon   - Chinese cuisine ( Taj Coramandel, Nungambakkam )
Golden Dragon at the Taj continues to be one of the finest restaurant for Chinese cuisine in the city. The service was slack the last time around though, unexpected from Taj Hotels which usually offers great dining experience in most of its restaurants.  First, we were made to wait for our tables in spite of reservation, when we turned up in person we found that more than enough tables were empty. Second, our table seemed invisible right in the middle of the restaurant.  I was also disappointed with the Italian wine recommended. To make it all up the food was wonderful, no complaints there.
Food: Very good, Service: surprisingly everyone seemed lost, Ambience: No complaints.. its the Taj! Overall dining experience: Good...but  could be excellent if they step it up a notch!.

The Dhaba - Punjabi food (Radhakrishnan salai)
Dhaba still serves great Punjabi food, good kebabs & roti's. Let down at  times are the curry's especially the ghost roganjosh. The service is good and they still serve cold beer in steel tumblers.
Food: Good, Service: Good, Overall dining experience: Good.

Tuscana Pizzeria
Great place for pizza's and pasta's, Some excellent Italian recipes from 'chef Wili Wilson' who is also the COO  will want you coming back for more to Tuscana. The name Tuscana also refers to Tuscany or Tuscan region in Italy. Over all the ambience of the place is quite comfortable. The the pricing though is on the higher side, but when you are located on up-market wallace garden road and dishing out excellent international receipes its justified :). Tuscana is open till 2 am on Friday & Saturday nights and that should make it popular with late night party people.
Food: Very good, Ambience: Good, Service: Very Good, Overall dining experience: Good

Garden Cafe at GRT Radisson - Global cuisine
The multi-cuisine lunch buffet is something not to be missed at the Garden cafe. The spread is quite wide and enticing. There is counter for chat and tava items too. For the diet conscious jet setting  traveler there is  an exclusive section of sugar free desserts. The all day restaurant also serves a multi-cuisine breakfast buffet. You can also choose from the a la carte menu for lunch or dinner but I recommend the lunch buffet. The experience does not end with lunch, don't be surprised if you get a caricatured picture of yourself done by a young artist.
Food: Very good, Ambience: Good, Service: Very Good, Overall dining experience: Very Good

Anytime - GRT Grand (T.Nagar) - Multi-cuisine restaurant
'Anytime' as the name goes is the 24 hour coffee shop at the GRT Grand.
This is the one of the best casual multi-cuisine restaurants if you are looking to get a quick meal at anytime of the day or to catch up with your friends for coffee & snacks. The place also serves a decent buffet lunch with a good spread.
Food: Good, Service: Good, Ambience: is Average. Overall dining experience: Good!

601 (The Park, N.H.Road) - Multi-cuisine restaurant
601 at The Park Hotel is one of the best round the clock restaurants in Chennai. The ambience is nice, simple and spacious. There is a pasta bar which serves a great variety of Italian pasta dishes. There is also wide range to choose from Indian to International dishes in the 601 menu. The restaurant also serves excellent pizza's.  There is a wine room within 601 for a more private dining experience. The downside is slow service at times even when the restaurant has few customers.
Food: is very good, Service: Could be better, Ambience: is good!. Overall dining experience: Very good!

Moonraker (Mahabalipuram, town) - Multi-cuisine, Sea food restaurant
This is probably one of the best non-veg restaurants if you are not looking at the  'star' hotels in Mahabalipuram town. Nothing great about the place if you look at the interiors or the location but if you love sea food this is the place to be. The service is good and fast. The restaurant is quite popular with many in the city and foreign tourists. By the way they also serve liquor which is a strong selling point to customers who just want to chill.  So next time you are down ECR try the restaurant.
Food: is good!, Service: Fast!.

Kabul - (on TTK Road, Alwarpet) - Tandoori, Peshwari food
The once upon a time popular restaurant in the city is still doing great business. The interior is more brighter and pleasant against the dark know not what thou eat lighting of cave man days. The food is still good especially the if you like Indian breads. They also serve beer a rarity among Chennai stand alone restaurants.
Food: is still good, Service: as always, Ambience: Improved, Overall dining experience: Hey they serve beer!

Kebab factory @ The Radisson GRT. - Kebabs
This is a must experience restaurant in the city. If you are a kebab lover you definitely will love the 'Kebab factory'. The food is great and the entire experience will keep you coming back for more. Though the hotel is far from the city on the GST road close to the airport, its worth the distance. Please make reservations before you make the trip all the way. A set menu is  served to you. It consists of a welcome drink followed by salad, 5-6 varieties of kebab  Biriyani or Indian breads and final course of 4-5 types Indian desserts.
Food: Awesome!, Service: Very Good!, Ambience: ok!, Overall dining experience: Very good!.

'Lemon Grass', - Chinese restaurant at Hotel Rain Tree
A little disappointing ......The restaurant is authentic as any Indian Chinese restaurant but the food is good & spicy should appeal to the Indian taste buds. When we ordered for the dumpling.. our waiter's response was that it would take 25 mins as if he was discouraging us from ordering the dish. Finally it did arrive after nearly an hour just as we finished our main course. So we had it more like a dessert rather than a starter.  The number of patrons the entire time we were there was not more than 6 including us(3). Ok! it was a weekday, a Thursday lunch hour. Hey how many people go out for lunch on a thursday??..hmm!. So pls don't order for a dumpling unless you want it as a dessert.
Food: is good!, Service: ok! i guess, Ambience: good!, Overall dining experience: hmm!...decent!

'Rainbow' at Hotel Rain Tree. (24/7 Multi-Cuisine Restaurant)
The Hotel itself deserves a special mention as it is the only eco-hotel in the city. The staff at the hotel right are very courteous. The ambience is modern and the entire dining experience at the 'Rainbow'  was very pleasant & relaxed.. The Buffet had an excellent spread for both Non-vegetarians & vegetarians.
Service: Very good!, Food: Good!, Ambience: ok !, Overall Dining Experience: Good!.

Prego - Italian fine dining restaurant (Taj Coramandel)
The restaurant is undoubtedly the finest Italian restaurant in the City. The wine list is excellent with an accent on Italian wines. The restaurant is serious experience in the art of fine dining.  Don't go there if you are looking for pizza's. Interiors are only let down in the evenings as it is brightly lit and tables too big for a romantic evening. If you make a reservation ask for seating near the pool side, there is an extended dining area overlooking the picturesque pool.
Service: The Best!, Food: Excellent!, Ambience: Good (but ask for the pool side), Wine list: Excellent!, Overall Dining Experience: Great!

Pergola - The roof top restaurant at  Accord Metropolitan ( Multi-cuisine )
As it is with most roof top restaurants ...the view is marvelous!
The decor is mostly aluminum alloy panel which clads every part of the building, Its dull!.
The bar area is well laid out and was my favorite part of the restaurant. They did serve my friend a cocktail  'Bull in China shop' interesting name but tasted awful. When we told them about it ...they did not seem to mind serving their customers with this awful drink...hmmm!. The starters took a long to arrive that we decided to place order for the main course without wasting much time. We ordered from the grill menu, we got cold chicken breasts n lukewarm lamb chops with Mongolian marinade along with mashed potato served with macaroni with red sauce. The lamb chop tasted good could've been better if it was warm. Less said about the mashed potato. Well at least there was good breeze.
Service: Poor!, Food: Average !, Ambience: Ok !, Brreeze: Great! , View: Great!
Overall Dining Experience: Just Average!
Compared with the city's other well known roof top restaurants...roof top Pergola is far below in overall experience.
